How we score

Every site gets a 0–100 Player Score from public player reviews, by the same recipe. No casino can pay to change it. This is the full recipe.

What the number means

Scores run from 0 to 100. The colour tells you the band before you read the number.

  • 80/100
Great75 and up: players are clearly happy
  • 65/100
    Good60–74: players lean positive
  • 50/100
Mixed40–59: read the themes before you sign up
  • 30/100
    PoorUnder 40: players lean negative

Where the data comes from

1,432,495 player reviews from two places whose biases point in opposite directions: Trustpilot, where people mostly arrive to complain, and the Apple App Store ratings of each site's own app, where people are prompted to rate at happy moments.

We collect at a polite rate and keep review text private for analysis. Only statistics reach the site.

The maths, in plain English

  1. Trustpilot is a complaints desk, not a census

Its score is 45% the share of genuinely happy reviewers (4 and 5 stars) and 55% a star average that softens the pile of 1-star reviews. App ratings stay closer to a plain average.

  2. Small samples are pulled towards the middle

Each source is pulled towards a typical UK site (58) as if it had 28 extra reviews. Ten glowing reviews barely move it; ten thousand speak for themselves.

  3. Sources are blended by size

A source counts more as its review count grows, on a log scale, so a big platform outweighs a small one without silencing it.

  4. Repeated complaints move the score

Withdrawals, support, bonuses, ID checks, the app and the games are tagged in recent reviews. Ten or more mentions with at least 70% negative is a penalty; 60% positive is a small bonus. One angry review moves nothing.

  5. Newer sites get a labelled estimate

Under 100 reviews, the site's own reviews are blended with the measured scores of its sister sites (same company, same payments and support) and shown as est. In a test on 175 measured sites, this estimate was on average 12 points from the real score, against 19 for a site-wide average.

  6. Direction is a separate flag

When recent reviews average 0.3 stars above or below the long-run average, the site is marked as trending up or down. It does not change the score.

What we never do

Edit a score by hand, or take money to change one. Republish anyone's review text. Invent a score when there is nothing to go on: a site with no reviews and no measured sister sites shows no score.

Right now 332 sites have a measured score.

Methodology FAQ

Can a casino pay to improve its score?

No. Scores are worked out from public reviews by the same code for every site, and nobody edits one by hand. Several sites we can earn commission from have low scores, and that is the point.

Why is your score different from a site's Trustpilot rating?

One platform is a skewed sample: review sites collect complaints, app stores collect praise prompted at happy moments. We correct for both, and a theme only pulls a score down when many recent reviews name it.

What does est. next to a score mean?

The site has fewer than 100 reviews, so we blend its own reviews with the measured scores of its sister sites. The more reviews it gets, the more its own count. At 100 it becomes a measured score.

Do you republish people's reviews?

No. Review text belongs to the people who wrote it. We publish counts, shares and scores only.
